The Renta Norm.
update of 2026
The Renta Norm is a reference standard developed by the Belgian federation of vehicle rental and leasing companies to assess the condition of vehicles at the time of return.
It defines what is considered normal Wear & Tear and what is classified as chargeable damage.
At the beginning of 2026, Renta modified its standard norm regarding the acceptable condition of a car upon return. The complete norm can be found on the Renta Website
Below you will find a summary of the key changes. Please consider these changes when returning your car (during a contract or at the end of the contract).
Failure to comply with the norm may result in additional costs at your own expense, invoiced by the provider of the car!
